WalocelŽ CRT
WalocelŽ CRT was developed for technical applications. WalocelŽ CRT has a minimum degree of purity of 98%.

Apart from standard powder grades, this product line also includes WalocelŽ CRT...PV grades with delayed solubility.

Grade coding system (nomenclature)

WalocelŽ is a registered trademark of Wolff Cellulosics. The type of substitution is denoted by the letters CRT for sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. The number placed after this shows the product’s mean viscosity. The letters and digits following that identify the particle size, the degree of purity and the modification:

Brand name

WalocelŽ CRT can be defined by
WalocelŽ CRT is a purified sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. CMC is a cellulose-based anionic polymer which is soluble in either hot or cold water.

WalocelŽ CRT products are:
  • white to slightly yellowish powders or granulates
  • of high purity
  • completely soluble
The product range comprises viscosity from 10 mPaˇs up to 30,000 mPaˇs as a 2% aqueous solution. This corresponds to approx. 50 mPaˇs as a 4% solution up to 4.000 mPaˇs as a 1% solution.

Properties of WalocelŽ CRT:

Ion activityanionicanionic
Surface activityvery low, non-foaming
Solubilityin water at any temperature
Water retentiongood (pH-dependent)
Effect of temperature on the solutionviscosity drops as temperature rises
Effect of pHdrop in viscosity in the ranges pH < 3.5 and pH > 12
Effect of monovalent metal ionsminor
Effect of polyvalent metal ionsflocculation possible
Film formationgood to very good film-forming properties

Used in aqueous systems, WalocelŽ CRT is ideal for
  • stabilising,
  • binding,
  • thickening,
  • emulsifying,
  • suspending, or in order to
  • absorb or retain water in technical applications.
WalocelŽ CRT films are resistant to oils, fats and organic solvents. By using WalocelŽ CRT you can precision-regulate the rheological (flow) properties of your application system, and therefore ensure that it performs perfectly in the actual processing conditions.
